FOSTER CARE CLOSET
Helping children feel cared for from the very beginning.
ABOUT THIS MINISTRY
A child entering a new home may arrive with very little that belongs to them. Our Foster Care Closet helps make that transition a little easier by providing practical essentials at no cost to the families caring for them.
A new pair of pajamas. Clothes that fit. Their own toothbrush. A warm blanket. A backpack. A favorite toy. These may seem like small things, but during a time filled with change, having something new, clean, comfortable, and their own can help a child feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.
HOW THE CLOSET WORKS
OUR COMMUNITY GIVES
Church members, neighbors, local businesses, and friends donate brand-new items for children of all ages and sizes.
WE ORGANIZE
Our volunteers sort and organize donations so needed items can be found quickly when a need arises.
A CHILD NEEDS HELP
When a child enters foster care, or another new home, caregivers can reach out to the ministry for assistance.
WE HELP
Available items are gathered and provided at no cost, helping children and the families welcoming them through an important transition.
“Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”
Matthew 18:5
WHAT CAN I GIVE?
We are building a closet filled with practical items children can use right away.
NEW CLOTHING
Shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, pajamas, socks, underwear, coats, jackets, and seasonal clothing in sizes from infants through teens.
PERSONAL CARE
Toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, deodorant, hair care items, and other age-appropriate personal care products.
BABY & TODDLER ESSENTIALS
Diapers, wipes, baby toiletries, bottles, bibs, blankets, and age-appropriate comfort items.
FAITH & ENCOURAGEMENT
Children’s Bibles, Bible storybooks, devotionals, Scripture coloring and activity books, prayer journals, and other age-appropriate Christian encouragement items.
SHOES & ACCESSORIES
Sneakers, everyday shoes, hats, gloves, backpacks, and duffel bags.
COMFORT & EVERYDAY ITEMS
New blankets, stuffed animals, books, toys, activities, school supplies, and other items that can help a child feel more at home.
NEW ITEMS ONLY
Because these items are being given to children entering a new home, all donations must be brand new and unused. Clothing should have original tags when possible, and personal care products must be unopened.
Providing new items helps us give each child something that is:
Clean. Comfortable. Ready to use. And truly their own.
At this time, the Foster Care Closet cannot accept used clothing, used shoes, opened personal care products, or previously used toys.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Foster Care Closet is one way North Oak Ridge Baptist Church can show the love of Christ by meeting a practical need at an important moment in a child’s life.

NEED HELP FROM THE CLOSET?
If you are a foster parent, caseworker, or someone helping a child who has recently entered a new home, we would be glad to help you.
Our ministry serves families in our community and surrounding communities, and assistance is provided based on the items currently available in the closet.
Every request is handled with kindness, respect, and discretion.
WANT TO SERVE?
The Foster Care Closet needs more than donated items.
Volunteers can help receive and organize donations, sort clothing by age and size, keep the closet stocked, prepare items for families, assist with donation drives, and pray for children and caregivers throughout our community. There is a place for everyone to help.
